BSc Diploma Programme

Water Operation Engineering

Water is the world’s most precious natural resource. Our BSc programme provides advanced training to students to develop their understanding of the activities involved in water and wastewater treatment and to work out strategies and devise systems that are crucial to preserving the environment.

The programme aims to develop your ability to think originally and create innovative solutions to practical problems. You will enhance your skills to plan, implement and manage projects in the water and wastewater industry.

The Water Operation Engineer programme is mainly designed for those students who are keen pursue a career within companies and organizations involved in water and wastewater engineering. The programme aims to provide you with a comprehensive and robust understanding of key areas of water engineering. It will provide you with the skills you need to explore, assess and evaluate problems and produce systematic and coherent solutions integrating core engineering science with practical applications both independently and within a team structure.

We require

  • secondary school leaving certificate,
  • fluency in written and spoken English,
  • a keen interest in solving problems of water supply and water quality both in Hungary and around the world.

Course Summary

The programme covers subject areas of chemistry, microbiology and mechanical engineering that are essential in understanding the water and wastewater treatment methods and processes. Additional areas of study related to water and wastewater treatment include automation, quality assurance, business economics, etc. Students gain experience in modern calculation methods and laboratory practice in water chemistry and process technology.

We participate in Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, where 50 Students per year are welcome.

Specializations

Students can choose the following specializations from the 4th semester:

  • Environmental analysis, instrumentation and monitoring
  • Biotechnology and innovation
  • Water quality and soil protection, waste management and remediation

Careers and employability

Water Operation Engineer provides water and/or wastewater treatment operations support to manufacturing and production facilities. Support includes troubleshooting issues at existing facilities, the design of new water and/or wastewater treating equipment for projects, and deploying new technologies needed for the safe, compliant, and efficient operations of water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Graduates are well prepared to apply for jobs with water companies. On completion, they will be able to offer employers a broad range of skills and advanced knowledge in numerous important areas of water and wastewater treatment.
